Error message: zip does not contain a valid theme: missing template “layout/theme.liquid”
This error usually occurs when the entire theme package downloaded from ThemeForest is uploaded directly to Shopify.
To fix this issue, please follow these steps:
- Unzip the theme package you downloaded from ThemeForest.
- Inside the extracted folder, look for a folder named “Theme” – this contains the correct .zip file for Shopify installation.
- Upload only the .zip file inside the “Theme” folder to your Shopify admin.
